You can synch midi to audio using the locators and tempo functions in the
sample window.
See here if this is what you mean:

Well unfortunately, it happens to be my Apogee Trak2
mlan FW card.
Can't do without that. I do have it isolated into an
OWC PCI card which I was told would allow the other
devices to work up to speed.

anyone know if it's possible to use a kick drum pad equipped with internal
trigger, plugged into the sustain pedel input of a m-audio keystation,to
play kick drum on logic's ultrabeat. if so please explain how thanks

To counterbalance the conspiracy theories, keep in mind that Apple released
the last Logic 6 update after releasing Logic 7, with the sole purpose of
enabling Logic 6 users to load Logic 7 songs.
:o)
Maurits.
I'm always manipulating the tempo. What I usually do is add the
"tempo" global track to the
arrange window, make it nice and big, and then simply draw the tempo as a
graph. Naturally
I listen with each change to see if I've gotten the "feel" right.
Logic also has a feature wherein
you can "conduct" the tempo by tapping a button, but I've never
been all that happy with the
results.

Glad to help. This file holds data about file positions etc., so destroying
it (or removing it)
shouldn't have any devastating effects. You may need to go to the project
manager
window and get it to re-scan your hard drives (window menu)
Functions>scan. The
downside is that this can take some time for larger systems. Although it
does run as a
'background task' ie you can do other things in logic while its doing this,
on my PB it
makes tracking impossible! maybe do it before you leave the studio tonight.

project manager?
Yes! The first time i saw this problem was only a few days ago, and at first
i was somewhat
confused. Normally if logic (on startup) is going to crash it'll do it on
either 'starting core
audio' or when it loads preferences, ie when its showing its splash screen.

I don't think so, I use a combination of the goto next/previous marker and
the scrub wheel
on my MCU

Yep, in the key commands menu there is 'Stop and Go To Last Play Position'
you will have
to assign this to a seperate key. If you don't already know, there is a
search dialogue in the
top left of the menu, start typing something in and it will filter the
non-matching entries,
this is should be very handy for you!

automatically

Yep! Goto (topmenu) Audio>Set Audio Record Path... (default keycommand A)
and its the
top checkbox on the menu. You can also get them to go to that tracks colour
(very handy).

Hope this helps, Mike
How do I do it. I ahve been getting some things of the dvd that comes with
Computer Music magazine, ut can't seem to work out how to make them appear.
Probably a real amatuer question but any thoughts please?

Vst plugins don't load into Logic Express (or Pro) only the AU-plugin format
works.
You can use a wrapper from FXpansion that wraps vst's as au.
Works fine.
The vst plug's need to be for OS X though.

Midi data... not my strongest point.
I observe that if I set up a transformer to catch note events (= note), the
value that's captured
is the note's velocity.
How can I catch a note's pitch in some numerical form? What I want to do is
catch the pitch
value and then have the transformer output relatively scaled fader
automation (IE - high
notes will spit out a big value, low notes a little one)
I'm fine with getting fader events out of the transformer and cabling them
into the target,
which happens to be the EFM1's Carrier Harmonic on another track. I just
don't know how to
catch/filter pitch values of notes going into it in the first place.
Or, please let me know if I've overlooked some vastly easier method of doing
the same
thing :)
I am looking to purchase a Vocoder or voice fx plugin for Logic, and I was
wondering if anyone would suggest a few that works well for them. I use MAC
& PC, so please let me know the platform you are on.
The types of effects I am trying to get are similar to the vocal effects
you hear on Cher’s song Do you Believe, and many of BT’s songs.
Thanks in advance for your assistance!

Thanks guys!
I was hoping the backwards function would come up in the editor. As for the
Expander, I should have mentioned that I'm using Logic Express. So there is
not one in the Dynamic plug-in menu. It sounds like I might just have to
try getting rid of mic noise with a combination of eq and a noise gate.
Thanks,

Can't you tell the Keystation to send the note?
If it is a Pro 88 you can. Don't know the other models.

I just know an easy way how to get fixed velocity following the
pitch. That doesn't follow your playing expression but can for
example output velo 30 for the deepest tone and velo 100 for the
highest. The values between accordingly.
If you want to do that:
Set the status of the upper row to "Notes". Then click on the
rightmost of the three black vertical lines until it leads diagonally
from the upper pitch field to the lower velocity field. That
transforms pitch to velocity but would output between zero and 127.
Select "Scale" from the velocity menu and adjust the lower and
upper
value as you like.

You don't need a numerical value. If you set the status of the
condition to "Note" then the transformer shows you the pitch as
note
names. All mathematical operators work as if there were numerical
values.

So far I know only the EXS has such a function. The "Key Scale"
parameter allows that. Or your keyboard, perhaps.

While we're on this topic, I wish the pitch corrector in Logic could
follow a melody that is input via MIDI. Would I be correct in
assuming there are third-party plug-ins (autotune?) that can do this?
Thanks...
David
Hi there.. Can any one tell me step-by-step how to link the ES1 to either an
Audio Channel or an EXS24 with a sample playing. Basically I've got a 1 bar
LFO sound which I want to award midi notation to. I can't seem to get the
ES1 to play any of the notes which I have side chained. The EXT is on,
second oscillator is selected (sub) ..Is there something extra I have to do
in the Side Chain before it will work? I have selected 'Track 1' to
represent what I guess is Audio Track 1..

Why not use the Vocoder that comes with Logic Pro?

Thanks for the prompt response, I'll check it out.

Replace the PSU sounds promising.
THank you for your reply.

Well FWIW I have an early Dual 2 gig G5 and I am experiencing the
same bug that you are talking about.. From what you're saying I
SHOULD be able to make it work on my chipset. No? Regardless this
is a big PITA bug.

Here's an excerpt:
"Basically the rumor is this: There will be no Logic 8. The successor

Ok, it's not much, but it's a curious tidbit.

Hi,
I have been using a Korg Microkontrol with logic for a while, and up
to this point have had no major issues. However, lately when recording
or just playing, the pitch goes haywire and detunes as if I were
messing with the joystick. Is this possibly a problem with the
keyboard, which was refurbished, or a setting in logic that I have
overlooked? I would appreciate any help....thanks
oh yeah also..I want to get a better controller anyways, does anyone
have any recomendations?
Thanks,
Peter
I think this is drawing a long bow from a rumour on Apple Insider
about some patents issued in Apple's name via Gerhard Lengeling.
Don't hold your breath.

I believe i posted regarding the development of audio production hardware a
while back.
i cannot say exacly what, but yes, controllers and possibly interfaces are
coming. maybe an
all in one like novation's xiosynth and remote sl combined.
these patents definitely reveal some interesting possibility
