Right. It's probably also worth mentioning for the original poster that the
midi files or regions must be in the song. Delete them from the arrange, you
loose them which makes it somewhat cumbersome to keep a whole bunch of them
in an autoload. If you do, it probably makes sense to stuff them into a
folder and hide it so you aren't looking at it all the time.

Thanks, works good. The "legal" version obviously better than the
"illegal" version ;-)
For those who are interested in splitting a stereo track:
Stereo track routed to a stereo bus.
2 stereo (!) Aux'es with inputs set to the stereo bus.
A StereoPan in both Aux'es with R/L levels far down.
Sends from the Aux'es to 2 mono busses.
You can of course split any stereo bus with that method, that could
be helpful if you want to process the two sides independently.
That maneuvre would be easier if the L and R setting on an Aux would
work. And it would not be necessary at all if we had L/R settings for
sends.

I just got my new Mac Pro 2.66 / 2 gig Ram and MOTU traveler.
I'm running my new sessions at 192k / 24 bit.
Currently running 25 stereo audio tracks and 5 Instruments Ultra
beat, Sculpture.
I keep getting A Core Audio error message that says
"System Overload, the audio engine was not able to process all
required data in time.
I've adjusted the I / O buffer size settings and still no luck.
Am I missing something? I expected to get better performance from
this set up.
thanks

Do you have the latest UAD Software? 4.4 I think. You should - but
first check for Panther compatibility. We've been in Tiger for a
while now...
Also I have a vague memory that plugin display uses Quicktime so
maybe it's a system problem. Maybe run Apple Software Update as well...

I am still using an older version of Logic Audio (for PC).
I have one question: How do I sample from a CD I put in my CD Rom Drive?
What do I select to sample directly from my CD Drive? Is it in the Options
menu or is it under Audio? Thanks!
>You mean you see no interface? No knobs, buttons, etc? O.
Yes.
But I can hear the Effect.
Hi all!
I¹ve been trying to update my Projekt Managers path references, due to
migrating from my old (un)trusty G4 Quicksilver ,but it crashes all the
time. It seems to happen when the scanning reaches the firewire drive.
Anyone who has had the same problem? I¹m on an iMac Intel Core Duo 2.0
and
Logic Pro 7.2.3. I have disabled all AU-plugins to see if any of them
caused the problem.

Sorry, I meant to say I just want to activate those that already exist in
Logic 5--those of EXS24, EVoc, ES1, and ES2. I agree....I wouldn't expect
instruments that were newly released with Logic 6 and Logic 7 to be
available in Logic 5. Thanks again....

Those are the ones I was referring to.
Just to spell it out - A user of LAW was able to buy Logic Pro 6,
get it autohorised on his XSkey, and use these plugins in LAWP 5.5.1:
ES1, ES2, Evoc, EVP 88, EVB 3, EXS 24, EVD 6
Obviously, the plugins that came after Logic 5.x, notably
Space Designer in Logic 6, and Sculpture and Ultrabeat in Logic Pro 7,
would not work with 5 anyway.
What I am saying is, if you have Logic 5 Windows and buy the
Logic pro 7 upgrade, it will NOT give you authorisations of the
Logic 5 instruments I listed.
Logic Pro 6 did this, Logic Pro 7 does not.
Hope that is clear
kind regards

I just registered and downloaded it. I guess that´s it.
I´ll see on monday when I´m back there.
I don´t believe it´s a Quicktime thing.
Thanks a lot

There was a radical change in the programming of the Key from
Version 5 to 6 (blue key) and some additions to Logic 7
(for Spacedesigner, Sculpture, Ultrabeat and Guitaramp a.s.o.)
which weren´t available before, if I remember right.

OK. No, it's not supposed to work that way.
You should see a UAD icon in the dock, which opens the UAD driver.
This should tell you which UAD software is on your G4. Make sure
you download the latest from www.uaudio.com.
In Tiger UAD plugins should work perfectly normal, maybe you have
a real old version there.
Also, a good source of UAD related info is

I would say that's damn good performance considering you're
running at 192/24. Data I/O at 192 is huge... either the system
bus will saturate or the drives cannot keep up. Are you using a
separate high speed audio only drive?
One question.... why 192, it makes absolutely no sense, your
audio interface qualiry is far below the threshhold of any
possible gain 192kHz could provide. Manufacturers use the 192kHz
as mostly a marketing device. To benifit from 192kHz your hardware
and recording environment would need to be pristine, and even
then.......

No problem, see below.

It's in the Windows directory:
Do this first.
Go to "control panel" and then open "Folder Options".
Under the "View" tab scroll down a short way and uncheck
"Hide extensions for known file types". If it's already unchecked
move on to the next part.
This will lett you see the .ini part of the file.
Next open Notepad. Navigate to the Windows directory on your
system drive (C:) tell notepad to show ALL files, not just text
documents. Find system.ini and open it, paste the lines below to the
end and save it.
[VCACHE]
MinFileCache920
MaxFileCache920
Reboot.
What is the symbol between the word cache and the number 920? In your
answer it shows as thick black line.
A mistake somewhere, either in my paste or Yahoo's font
interpretation.

Yes, select custom setting:
Under initial size select 512
Under Maximum size...also 512
Note: This still may not help your problem as Logic is old, and only
understands 1Gig of RAM. If nothing else the above will help your
computer run more efficiently for most things.
Howard
p.s. the drastic fix is to modify the bootini file so that the
computer only recognizes the first gig of RAM at startup.
You can set it so a menu is presented at startup, you can then select
a 1Gig or 2gig boot option.
That was on the site link I posted.

That's the strangest thing. I have nearly the same set-up you do
(the only difference is 5gigs of RAM and 2 2408 MOTUS with a
425pcie). I'm running 45 tracks of Audio and so far like 20 Absynth
4's and lots of Space designers and 4 instances of Stylus and other
goodies and I've never really even come close to putting much of a
dent in the performance meter.

The best idea would be to get one of the various CD to audio file extraction
tools, then save the files onto your harddisk and import them into Logic.
Exact Audio Copy does a pretty decent job:

I found a great deal on this and bought it, and though I've heard rumors of
people with pops and clicks, I haven't had any.
BUT - I'm not sure if anyone is succesfully integrating the 002 with Logic.
I have been looking for places to research how to assign
faders, etc. But with no luck. I'm a novice of control surfaces, but I
thought it would - with time, increase my workflow.
If you have any places to point me for information, or any advice like -
sell that and buy "____" it can be integrated better with Logic.
THANKS!
Also: Is there an interface that everyone uses that is tried and true and I
could find easy information on?
THANKS AGAIN.

The Digi 002 control surface section works with ProTools only.

I'm using 2 320 gig Barracuda perpendicular drives striped RAID.
I have been running Logic the OS and the projects off of this set up.
I just tried running Logic and my OS off the internal and opening
projects from the RAID drives. Still no difference.
I can hear a difference in quality now that I'm in 24 bit.
I must admit I'm not sure what I'm gaining from the 192k.
Is it advantageous to step down to 96k or just stick with 44.1 / 24 bit.
Also as I am still new to Logic, how can I convert my audio files at
192k
down to another sample rate?
thanks for your feed back.

Jason... you're running at 192kHz/24 bit?
If so... wow! now that's impressive. What's your sample buffer set at?

The control surface part of it is only compatible with
ProTools software.
The audio interface part of it is compatible using Digi's
CoreAudio driver. However, I have never encountered
a worse CoreAudio driver. And the sound quality of the
unit stinks compared to anything by MOTU, RME,
Presonus, and some others.
