Hi,
I did a lot of editing in the audio window and there seems to be a
bug when using the strip silence command: Very often a smaller, empty
strip silence window opens with the message "buffer full". So you
have to close it and use strip silence again to make it work. I use
it on an TiBook G4 1gHz with 512 MB Ram.
The error occurs on both, OS X and OS 9.2.2

Step 1: update your version of Logic. You can update up to Gold
v4.8.1 for free.. There were many, many bug fixes between 4.0.0 and
4.8.1, there's no legitimate reason to use such an old version at all
that I can think of.
Best wishes,
Jeremy

Thanks Jeremy, I'll try it.
the reason this came up is because I have recently returned to Logic (I
write music fro Brass Bands, and have defected to Sibelius!) as a means of
preparing samples of my pieces to put on my website.

Sorry, can't help you there. If you ask me, however, the biggest bug of all
is that you can't preview individual slices in the strip silence window.
Maybe in Logic 7? ;-)

I have to try this but I am pretty sure I was not hearing any delay
with L1 at the master before.
So, how does 64 samples translate to miliseconds?

All I need is to capture the timing of the audio drum hits. I know that
higher versions of Logic have the Groove Template feature which is said to
do audio-to-MIDI, but AFAIK that only generates a quantize template which
then has to be applied to an existing MIDI track. Hard to see how that could
help with a snare roll or a fill.
The feature you're asking for is called "Audio to Score" and is
available
from the Sample Edit window as well. It actually creates a sequence out of
your complete track. All you need to do after that is to transform all
pitches to one.
(on a sidenote: it's almost the same as audio to midi template which is
creating a new sequence from the analysed material as well)

Depends on what sample rate you're using:
Sample Rate (kHz) Delay (ms)
--------------------------------------
44.1 1.45
48 1.33
88.2 0.73
96 0.67
192 0.33
Hope this helps,

That's 1,4 milliseconds I think. Logic allows only quite big delay
adjustments but 1,4 ms. is one of them.
Take care,

1.5 ms is nothing. So, I was right about L1.
It did not seem like there was any noticable delay.
I bet it is possible to do the same with Ad-Limiter.
That is what I suggested that should be fixed.
I mean they are 2 comparable plugins. If one does not do it I will use the
other.
Too bad though. Since I thought Ad-Limiter was less coloring to the sound.
Now, that might be preferable to some but not to me.
I like Ad-Limiter's sound better.
Oh well...back to work.

Works nice, simply needs the famous big and dangerous Panic-Button and

The ES2 works perfectly with 10.2.x. Exceptionally, in fact.
I am seriously considering this as an option.
I know UAD-1 does not work with OSX yet but it says on their site that they
will adapt AU.
However, I do not know if they work with UAD-1 + TiBook.
Magma's Site says that they ARE compatible with UAD-1 but no mention of
Logic.
BTW, samash.com is out of stock for Logic Controller so i have to wait 2 to
4 weeks.

Hi,
I've bought today a new 120Gb HD. I have already a 40Gb. I want to
use the second one for Logic Audio data (tracks/samples)
Any tips on master/slave setup. I have got also a CD-RW and a DVDrom
player on my Win2000 PC.
I saw an article that sayed that my first HD must be prim. master en
my second HD secondary master and the CD's both slave.
Is that the best setup for Logic Audio?

ok.....so, can I use just one instance of PMP and each one of 16
midi ch has its own mixer ch....so each one of 16 pHAT loops
can be processed by different PlugIn EFX??? or....like Eli said in
this case is it much easier to use 16 instance of PMP? But if it
can be done by just one instance, does it save lots of CPU
power or not??? I thought this is one of PMP's selling point.......
I'm kind of confused about multi out inside of PMP, too.....is it 4
stereo pair or something??? but it has nothing to do with the set
up I explained above, I think....cause above set up is about
Multi-Timber function of PMP....not multi out.....am I correct???
Please help me out to understand PMP's Functions and
Possibilities.....cause I love this VSTi.....

Hi -- I just upgraded to Logic 5.5 on Mac OSX 10.2.3 and EXS doesn't seem to
allow for the import of Akai samples... what's up and is there some solution
to this?
Thanks!!!!

Yes, the UAD-1 does work with Logic and does work on the
TiBook with a Magma. But, as a soon to be Magma owner
myself, I'm going with the TC Powercore from TC
Works.......way more expandability and options, and frankly
better plugs. Not to say the UAD-1 isn't great if you want
that vintage-like processing, but as an overall the
Powercore smokes.

Hi Marc,
Thanks for the root login tip. By logging in as root, I did manage to move
the previous Transverb to the Trash, but... I couldn't empty it! Something
about priviledges again! It's actually becoming quite funny. As a Root
person I can move things around but I can't empty a locked item in the
Trash? I don't know...
Anyhow, I did manage to install the latest Trans. Congratulations on the
graphic front - all is well! The problem I face now is that when I call up
Trans and play around with the parameters (while the seq is playing), I get
a Logic (5.5) crash. I managed to do this a few times in a row. I was
running EXS24 MKII through it at the time.
Is anyone else experiencing Transverb crashes?

I have a Powerbook G3 400 Pismo with Motu 828. I want to buy a version of
logic which
should help me with the following:
- record my band with 8 channels audio simultaneously with the 828
- use softsynths such as EVP73 and AU-based instruments such as Simplesynth
- mix all of it to CD
- printing scores of my arrangements and melodies
- adding music to digital video projects
- play EVP73 or similar
instruments live with Midiman Oxygen 8
Now I am considering the Logic Big Box, which seems to be very good value
and includes lots of extra snacks such as the sampler.
I have trouble finding out if there is anything important I am missing by
going for Logic Audio instead of Gold or Platinum. Can Logic Audio do the
things I mention above? Is there an easy upgrade path to Platinum if I
should find out L Audio is not enough.

I'm in Stockholm, Sweden, and here it's less than two hours left of
2002. I was going to a party tonight but I had to stay in bed because I
suddenly got hit by a sinister migraine. Getting better now but I will
still be "out of order" for another five hours. Maybe I can start
