If you want to write track automation for the parameter, it's best to
enable track automation in the arrange window, and select the parameter
from the pop-up menu you get when you long-click on the default Volume
parameter in the tracklist.
If you want to control the parameter with an external controller there
is a lot more to it. You can try my Controller-Learner II enviro from
swiftkick, or just wait and see what 5.2 does, as this area has been
changing rules with successive updates.

Anywhere you find a digi 001 -a mac-Direct I/O- other pci stuff
there will be mischief lurking.
-6031 errors are 'cpu cant keep up' related and i have found two
things that contribute. One is try to avoid using the digi midi port,
and there is a definite pci hogging issue with 001 and other pci
cards that depends a bit on the specific card you are using and
your system setup.
I have a similar system to you and have had these problems off
and on for ages.

Hey if you are experiencing a flange type sound or the phasing out with you
midi tracks, Be sure to that function called "Local" or Local
switch in your
keyboard or module that you are using is turned to off...
This feature should be off during and when using Logic... But be sure to
turn it back on when you are not using it in Logic, because if not you will
not hear anything... In Roland devices I believe, if im not mistaken ,this
feature is located under the utility or system and in Korg it is found in
Global section of hte keyboard.... But this should definately fix that
problem if its what your talking about...

on my 2 main synths (the Roland JV1080 and the

when I use any of the mapped drums. I figure I have

Anyone else have this problem?

I have that problem, but when I first run Wavelab 4 and then end
that program and then Logic there is no problem.

No. You could run Logic off a zip disk if you wanted to without any
penalty!

Huh? If you're running OS 9 (even if OS X is installed on the same
partition) then nothing's changed so far as OS 9 or Logic is
concerned...it's just another bunch of files taking up space ;-)
That said, so far as OS 9 and OS X goes it's simply advisable (or
preferable) from a maintenance point of view to install them on separate
partitions (though they will happily co-exist on the same partition and
are designed to be able to do so) since this makes it much easier to
wipe a partition and start again for either OS and so on...

You've got 3 heavy duty things on the same PCI bus:
UAD card, Digi001 and SCSI card. Try losing the SCSI
card and using an IDE or Firewire drive and see if that
works.

To further f-erenc's comments:
I came up against a similar issue last week - a client upgraded from his
beige G3 to a G4/800, keeping his 2940UW and Mix Core card.
As soon as he goes into record onto the SCSI drive on even one track - -6042
city. Recording on either IDE or FireWire drives is fine.
I spoke with Digi, and they scorned the 2940 with G4s - they really are that
bad apparently... It must be said that having a faster computer does not
necessarily help the PCI bus - its almost as though the processor is a load
on the bus itself, and having a faster processor places more demands on the
bus!
I suggest you ditch it and go either Atto, IDE or FireWire. Good luck.

This advice is not so good. Reducing hardware acceleration increases CPU
utilization as it transfers processing from the display adapter to the
CPU. Not
to be encouraged. If you do not have an AGP video card then get one as
this will
cure display related issues.

Could anyone advise me of the best way of backing up ALL my Logic
data onto a CD.
The main problem is the EXS24. This is due to the fact that I have
all of my samples and patches stored on my hard drive. Is there a
simple way to save everything into ONE directory so that this can
then be burned onto a CD.
Any help would be great.

Correct.
However I repeat what I already wrote:
there is no score bug, not at all. The original poster has a severe
misunderstanding of what the tempo indication and it's relation to BPM
actually is.
A dotted quarter at 115 means 1.5 quarter at 115 BPM and that is the same
tempo as a quarter note at 172.5 BPM. There is no way around that.
The tempo signature in the score plain simply means:
the depicted note length is played such that it occurs the given number
times in a minute.
If the original poster writes dotted quarter = 115 and then realizes
that the tempo of 115 BPM is what he really wants than he simply is
writing the wrong tempo above the score. The correct tempo then would
be dotted quarter = 76.6666.
Wether one likes it or not. That's how these tempo signatures are
defined.
You'd never write c-minor if you want two crosses. Why would you want
to write the wrong tempo signature ?
>If it's not a bug it must be a "feature" - and for me it's an
>undesirable one :-)
To me it seems as if you should rework your understanding of what time
signatures actually mean.
It definitely is a feature and it works the way it should. Otherwise
it would be a bug.
No offence intended, best,
Michael

Hi all,
......again Dave Eager, sorry for getting the name wrong.......(Rob?)
I have only a small system, PC - Windows 98SE, Athlon 550; 20 GB IDE HD and
a SoundBlaster LiveII soundcard - I use Logic Audio 4.8.1.
I have 2 questions. The first is related to Logic running with Reason using
Rewire.
1.When I use Reason as a sound module from Logic there is a delay (something
to do with latency guess). This only happens when using Rewire. However,
when I start Reason first and Logic second (the useal linking of software
via midi clock sync) everything works fine. I've checked all the settings
within Logic that you can and still no joy.
2. I have DirectX 8.1 installed on my system but in Logic's device setup I
cant select it (its stuck on MME - nightmare!!!) - or even see it for that
matter.......Anyways, thanks in advancefor any advise/help any of you may be
able to give me........

Hi list!
We recently purchased LAM v.5.xx and noticed, that no more drivers
for Yamaha´s CBX-series were in the drivers-panel.
Was the CBX-support dropped?
Which was the last version to support the CBX?

Sorry, I feel I should point out what I read on the Powerlogix (G4 Upgrade
cards) site:
http://www.powerlogix.com/
"If you are using both OS 9 and OS X:
Apple recommends loading both OS X and OS 9 into the same, first (less than
8 gig) partition."
I'm sure you can install the OS' on separate partitions, but Apple does
apparently advise otherwise.
I found it on a second scan through the readme. It's for the metronome.
Dave Eager
You double-click and hold one of the inserts on the track where you want the
effect. It'll give you a choice of mono or stereo. It will also say
"Logic"
for a logic plug-in or "VST" for a 3rd party one. Pick the one you
want and
it should open up a software interface of some kind. Then you can go crazy.
Have fun.

Logic 24 is a hyped up version of micrologic A/V - there are no
environments, there is no audio window, and it has limited EFX, BUT it
samples at 96Khz at 24 bits (presumably to show off the capability of the
C-Port) The doc is limited.
I used L24 for quite a while before buying LAG 4.8 - you can make complete
recordings with it, particularly if you have an editor, like Sound Forge,
but even without.

I'm working with Logic audio Platinum and am eagerly awaiting the MacOS
X-version. I'm looking for a good, professional sounding audiocard to
replace my AW8. MacOS X-support (or future support) is important. I
think one of these is the right choice:
-MOTU 828
-RME Hammerfall DSP Multiface
-something (Delta?) of Midiman
What would you recommend? Or are there other better options?
Thanks,
Remco

Looks wicked. Muting of notes in the matrix editor!!
Rob DeBoer
Hi,
I've been pulling my hair out for the last two days. I've worked with
Logic for 7 years now and it's always been fine.
Now all of a sudden I have this horrifying error: whatever
soundfile I place in the arrangewindow, on whatever track, it
does NOT play. If I open the file in the sampleeditor, it plays back
fine, on the right channel (track). In the audioweindow no
problems either. But as soon as I hit play from the
arrangewindow, somehow Logic doesn't respond to the
soundfile any longer. Not even the meters in the tracklist or the
environment respond.
I've tried a lot of things already; different soundcards, different
drivers, even MacAV. In ALL the Logic versions that are available
to me the same problem occurs.
Anybody??
Thanx,
O.
Could anyone advise me as to the best way of backing up ALL data in a
song.
My main problem is the EXS24. How can I easily copy all the samples
and programs into ONE directory so that this can then be burned onto
a CD with all the Audio data etc.
Any help would be great
