Hi all !
Last evening I was in a middle of a recording when I pressed the select
button on buschannel on the Logic Control. Logic kept on playing but the
recording stopped and the guitarist was sreaming...
Is it not possible to select another track/channel/bus.. while in recording
?

So far I got two propositions. On my own I have solved the
problem by disabling the MAC and the quicktime sounddrivers.
Will try thge advice I got from Marcio Nigro and Kenwchan.

My program "Qmk" (Qwerty midi keyboard) might do what you're
looking
for. basically it lets you treat your computer keyboard as a midi
controller. You can assign any midi-note (or complete chords) to any
key of your keyboard.
It's not perfect, requires OMS and should be in the foreground (i.e.
Logic in the background :), but quite a few people seem to be happy
with it. Check the "Soft" section of my website (see signature).
Oh, and it's Macintosh-only...

Taking off the "Larger process buffer" option certainly improves
the difference, roughly from an 8th note early to a 16th note early.
I really wish it would work in time...

It seems with LAMP 5.1.3 I can't automate pitchbend on a Virtual
Synth from the arrange page via the new Automation
parameters. The alternative is in Hypertdraw.
Not too shabby at all and I'm being picky...but....it would be cool
to have the curve tool available.
So…either curve tool in Hyperdraw or move Midi Controller
automation on to the front page, or am I missing something?

I have a Quicktime movie that I have to compose for and before I start
working I have 2
questions for those out there who know:
1) How do I get rid of the current soundtrack that is embedded in the
quicktime movie file.
2) Once the new soundtrack which I'm doing is completed in LAMP 5.1.3, how
do I
save/embed the new soundtrack in the quicktime movie?
Thanks,

Are you using any Macros in your environment that came from 4.8? Because
I found this warning would come when a 4.8 macro was just a little
oversized, but not enough for Logic to refuse to load it.

Do you mean 'Delete redundant Audio tracks' or just 'delete unused' ?

Hitting the 'enter' key or clicking in the entry field ? Because
clicking near the edge of an entry field has always been a bit tricky in
Logic [i.e. you sometimes end up clicking through to whatever is underneath]

You can use Quicktime Pro to do this. It gives you an option to
get rid of the audio tracks of the file. Or you can just turn down
the volume of the quicktime file once it's in your Logic session.

I am sure there are several ways to do this. If you own FinalCut
Pro, you can import your new audio file and place it at the
appropriate place in your movie and than export the whole thing
as a new quicktime movie. Or you can import it using Quicktime
Pro again - the main issue with doing it this way is that your first
frame of audio must be exactly as the first frame of the quicktime
movie - in case the music doesn't come right in, just burn some
silence up front until the music kicks in to preserve the timing.
Alternately, just hand over a CD to the film/video editor and they
can do it for you :)
Hope this helps.

We aren't using Macros in the environment.

Delete Unused.

Hitting "Enter", not clicking. That's what is so strange. Thanks
for you reply, David.

Does this mean that i would not be in "Rewire Mode?" It seems that
in Rewire Mode that Reason is not getting any midi signal at all.
thanks for you help!

They have sent me codes three times now. I guess they will send a copy for
each call I have made...kinda funny.

i found that happened when i had "pc" selected as my audio driver
enabled
for any given track. i switched mine to "asio" and the meter is in
time with
the track output.
i don't know if that's the correct way to solve that problem, but it's
working so far.

I'm not behind logic right now, but I recognise your problem: pitch
bend doesn't show up in the list of controllers.
On the top of my head it's controller 130; doubleclick the automation
midicontrol value on the track in arrange(which by default is set to
off or volume) and type it in. You should now get a red line which is
the pitchbend automation.
No clue why it is not in the list, but there you go....

Since 5.1.3, even less of the track name shows because of displaying
the track numbers. Can I turn this off??

two days ago there was a post regarding a MotU midi mini express and
that the midi interface would go crazy [all face lights blinking]
randomly while using Logic. i thought i had sorted out this problem
with my set up [Motu midi express] but i too still get the same
problem.
so i tried exiting logic, and exiting the midi interface console.
restart the interface...and blue screen. this has happened a couple
of times.
i, when had the same issues in Nuendo, turned off real time
messaging in the midi console. and that solved the issues with
Nuendo, but not Logic. [when real time messenging in the MotU
interface is on it seems to start an endless loop].
are there known conflicts with Logic and MotU midi interfaces, or am
i just missing a setting somewhere?
thanks.

It depends on exactly what you want to do, but I think Ableton's
Live! is better suited to this kind of thing. With Live you can
access/mix all sorts of audio. Get Live with a midi controller and
you're rocking.

My Korg MS 2OOO acts monotimbral, although
it's definetely 2 parts multitimbral (according
to it's specs).
My first recorded sequence always succeeds as it
should, Logic monitors the right sound on the right
channel.
Then, as i try to record a second sequence on another
channel, the recording itself also succeeds BUT:
I can't hear both recordings simultaneously.
I have to manually switch my Korg to the correct channel via
global page nr3 (which assigns sounds to channels)
of the recorded Logic sequence in order to play the selected
Logic midi it's sequence.
This way i can hear one of the 2 sequences, but the
other sound is muted in doing so.
Example:Korg preset 5 is assigned to Logic midi track 1
Korg preset 10 is assigned to Logic midi track 2
In Korg's Global Page 3 i manually assign on each of the 2 chosen
channels on which i choose to record the correct preset. Each time
i wanna hear a sequence i have to find it via Korg's global menu
first.
So the channels and chosen sounds are the same in Korg as in
Logic. Yet, though i can hear the sequences on their own
i can't monitor both!
Logic only monitors the sequence of the the midi channel i
highlight after i visited Korg's global page and it's corresponding
channel (and it's assigned sound)
PS: I got a few other synths running on Logic, none of them
have this problem. They all live up to their
multitimbrality
What did i overlook?
I have been talking to Emagic directly and just wanted to say that every
problem/issue I have had with the XSKey has been addressed and they have
made
up for any inconveniences. All of my faith has been restored because not
only
did the problem get fixed, but they have been putting forth a lot of effort
to contact me even after the fact to help compensate things. I won't get
into
how, but I will say that all my grudges in the situation have been wiped
clean. Any growning company is going to have growning pains, this is
something I have always accepted, but it's a company owning up and taking
responsibility to mkake things right that is what I look for. Emagic has
done
that for me. While I have been quite verbal about my complaints (and
rightfuly so), I don't want anyone to think I don't appreciate it when
someone fixes a problem. I applaud Emagic in their handlment of my problem.
So for all those having trouble getting codes, give them a call and let them
know yoursituation.

PS - I know this may be more appropriate for OT, but this will be the only
message on this from me, nothing more to be said, and I want everyone to
know
my position.

Sure,
Arrange page View > Track numbers/level meters - uncheck
You also know that you can drag the track column to change the width?

Under the view menu, uncheck 'Track Instrument Channel'. Or are you
referring
to something in the display of Logic Control?

I can tell you that my MOTU MIDI Timepiece AV has been nothing but trouble
since I bought it. Even with the unit not connected to anything but power,
it
would crash. Every 30 minutes or so it spews out note on messages. It gets
into feedback loops. The list goes on. I finally went and bought a Unitor
the
other day and all the problems went away.

Yes, I'm refering to the display of Logic Control, not the display of the
arrange page. I thought that the LC in the subject line would narrow it down
enough - guess not, sorry!

I have a Motu Midi Timepiece AV. Works great with Logic on my PC. The only
massive amounts of of all face lights blinking I had came from sending MIDI
Clock to all channels. Since I don't need to send that to my synths I
turned it off under Options>Settings>Synchronisation Settings>Midi
tab.
The only problem I have w/ my Motu MTP is that intermitently Windows doesn't
like to recognize it. Reboot solves.
