Craig,
On the contrary. Yes, you do need another app. like LUI but you get to use
much more of the card's power than with Logic alone.

Zero latency: software monitoring OFF and then it's hardwired.
Some latency: software monitoring ON and you can then process the audio
you're
monitoring.
Hope this helps.

Hi,
I had the same problem -
You have to download the imate 2.6 driver from
www.griffintechnology.com/imate/imate driver.html
and then it works - not very good but it works.
Here in Germany, you have the possibility of changing your dongle against a
USB dongle. My problem is - and it's shurely your's too - when do I find 10
days for sending my old dongle and waiting for a new one ?
All the best,
Marc

Anyone have any inside scoop on when the Windows update will hit the
Emagic site?
Here is my setup:
Hewlett Packard computer
733 mhz
256 ram
18g hd ultra wide 10,000rpms
digi96/pst sound card
motu midi express xt interface
oxygen 3dlabs video card
I'm having problems with my midi interface, which I didn't have in my
older system.
When I run the midi express software to map out midi connections
everything works fine. The drivers for the midi interfaces works
fine, until I launch the LAW Logic platimum program. This is the
message I recieve, "The IRQ specified in the driver setup appears to
be occupied already. You may have set up another device on the same
IRQ as your midi EXpress XT. If you continue with the current
setting, conflicts may arise. Enable driver anyway? Yes or No". When
I choose no Logic will start. The audio card(digi96/pst) works. The
midi channels doesn't work. I can see all the midi express's
channels, but they are shaded and don't respond. Even when I play the
keys on my keyboard controller, no sign of any signal is being
proccessed. Not in the software nor the cpu nor the Midi interface
itself. Logic seems to disingage the midi interface when you launch
Logic. When I choose yes I get a msseage that says, "The driver could
not activate your Midi Express XT" From this point my only option is
to press the cancel button, which eventually dumps me into Logic with
no midi function. Now the midi interface works fine when I use the
Cakewalk software. No conflicts at all, except when I launch Logic. I
need your help. ASAP
Thanks in advance
Anthony
OK!
I have just loaded a song created with 4.6.3.
A drums loop with EXS is playing out of tune (I mean in this case
pitched down a lot).
Never happened before...
(I have heard of this kind of trouble somewhere in this list)
It's on my pbook G3 266,no midi interface connected....
If I bypass the EXS and turn it on again,I get the good pitch.
If I restart the song :out of tune!
Damned....

:-(
Thanks guys !
It's good to see I'm not alone. Thought I did something stupid in the
setup. Anyway, for now I'll do the updates in 4.6.1 and play it back
in 3.6 as a workaround.
Hoping for an update soon !
Cheers,
Frank

I usually just do the bounce to disk in 16bit format
using LAP.
This week I tried dithering (as someone on the list suggested
in an earlier post) but instead of dithering to 16bit on the master
fader, I dithered to 18 bit on the master fader during bounce to16 bit.
I can't really tell much difference between the 16 bit bounce and the
18bit dithered 16bit bounce, but I'm sure someone with better ears
than mine might pick it up.
I figured that dithering to 16bit will drop the quality too much
strainght away. By dithering to 18bit first then bouncing at
16bit, in theory there would be only subtle degrading before the
chop at 20hz and 20000hz.
Mind you, I'm only recording in 20bit anyway, so there's not really
going to be much difference.
Hope this helps somebody.

do.
Maybe he's write. Anyway, thank you for your help.

I thank you all, even it's a bad news.
Tomorrow, I'll thank the seller and emagic too.

The dither you set in the dither plugin needs to correspond to the
final bit-depth you are bouncing to, otherwise you'll be dithering
to 18-bit in the plugin, then TRUNCATING that to 16-bit at the
bounce, completely removing any dither previously applied in the
least significant bit (bit 18). You might as well just bounce to
16-bit with no dither...
Don't do it - dither to 16-bit if you're bouncing 16-bit.

I'm trying to avoid looping audio so I record the MIDI straight across the
time line but after about 2 mintes of recording, my loop starts to change?
This makes no sense, it's supposed to be looping the SAME thing over and
over?
It's a line in a drum pattern (kick) and what happens is that the space
between the two kicks almost disappears (and they sound like they trip over
each other) and the level jumps to +6 (I leave them at 0) in the audio
mixer.
-Aardvark 24, buffer 8192, -4 delay in, monitoring off
-16 bit, 44.1, ASIO driver (finally)
Probably a 'dumb' question, but how can you quickley know/find out
what sample rate the wave file is in the first place. is is just in
the properties section of the file ?

Hey Joe -
Well, it was pretty weird - I kept on getting these error messages til I
went through my archives, grabbed
an old 4.6.1, updated _that_ to 4.6.3 then updated _that_ to 4.7. Glad I
always keep a copy of *everything*...
Guess now that 4.7's finally out it's time for a NYLUG meeting - think it's
gonna be at my place this time -
let's talk off list.

Have you checked the event list in the audio track in case there is
foreign data at approx 2 minutes? Thats my only initial , simple
guess.

I didn't have any plug ins on audio track (though Goldreverb on one
of the three VSTi tracks yes).

What am

I've had similar trouble updating lamp previously.
That was due to the MBDF A/B virus.
No problem since.
