Maybe I'm missing something obvious, but... wouldn't it be simpler to just put all your songs together in a big songfile and start them using the "goto marker #" keyboard shortcut ? Of course if your set has more than the maximum 2173 or whatever bars allowed in Logic there's a problem... but you can always divide the tempo of some songs by two or four. BTW, I wish there was a special key command to go from marker to marker without losing the beat, ie the jump should happen not immediately but on the first bar after the key was struck. BTW, if the repeat signs in Logic's score would work as they should (ie effectively repeat parts of the song), the 2173 limit wouldn't be such a problem for using Logic live in the way I describe. This has been on my wish list since Notator ST - which, incidentally, had meta events that enabled a song to load another song

Shift "W". I can't remember whether that's the default or because I use Wavelab I assigned the "W". Locate or allocate the Key Command. In the Keys Window Type "External" in the "Find" space. Can't remember where to assign it but if you then use the Key Command Logic will tell you that you have to set the executable which results in the same thing.

Have you checked "auto demix by channel if multitrack recording" in record options (long click on the record button in transport)? Then record-enable both Arrange tracks' record buttons, make sure one track is selected, & play. Does this work now? - I was hoping it would. Unfortunately I can't/won't update to 4.7 right now as I have 2 important non-audio projects underway, my system has gotten all flaky for audio, I need to reformat & do a totally clean reinstall of OS9, etc. Aaaaargh! ISO9660 format should be used. Apart from that file extensions may be missing, so you'll have to add the .lso to the song file. Maybe import will work though. And be careful with long filenames. SDII files are a no-no, so if you're going to need to convert, best to do it on the Mac. Maybe prepare a new folder with audio files converted to wavs, changing the file reference as you go and finally saving the song there too. Best regards, Adam P

Subject: LAMP 4.7: some first impressions
Message #59296
Hi all; some first impressions of 4.7.. Overall, an excellent update, *many* new features, including lots of little enhancements not mentioned in the previews, plus various bugfixes (including some undocumented ones).. - 4.7 fixes this long-standing bug: in HyperDraw, when there were discontinuous events (hanging lines), if you clicked in the blue to draw, these events would be unintentionally interpolated. Now, Logic automatically places anchors at the end of the discontinuous lines to preserve all original data.. excellent! :-) - A bug in the Matrix window, where inserted notes in multi-sequence views were offset from the insertion point, seems to have been fixed.. - A new bug (buglet?): Can't use the Goto Key Command to goto the same bar more than once without changing the destination. Example: - Goto Bar 5: ok; - Play, then stop anywhere (say, bar 10); - Goto Bar 5: Nothing happens (The cursor stays put); - Goto any bar *except 5*: ok, OR Goto any bar *except 5*, *then* Goto Bar 5: ok This seems to replace the previous bug, where the SMPTE display wouldn't update when using Goto to go to bar 1.. This one's worse, but I assume (hope) it's easily fixed.. ;-) - The Arrange-window-audio-regions-display-incorrectly-thru-tempo-changes bug is still there.. :-( VST instruments: the new features are very useful, in addition to looping/patch changes/parameter box functions, you can now set up an instrument that runs thru a bunch of Environment transformers on the way in to a VSTi object.. :-) I encountered some odd behavior when I tried to multi-record two VST instruments (two different VSTi tracks both record-enabled) in both multitrack mode (different controllers on different incoming MIDI channels) and layer mode.. - When Logic was stopped, I could only hear one VSTi (the selected track) as I played on the keyboard, even though both VSTi tracks were record-enabled (the function worked normally with MIDI tracks, and with MIDI tracks plus *one* VSTi track). Also, an Environment instrument cabled to two VST instruments would either only trigger one at a time (top cable?) or neither (when stopped).. - When I hit play or record, I could now hear both, and the MIDI data was recorded & played back as expected (in both modes), *but* while I was recording, the second VST instrument's sound was delayed by about half a second or so; it played back in sync however. If I played/recorded from a single track with a single instrument that was cabled to two VSTi's, both were heard delayed, but once again in playback they were in time.. So I'm wondering, is this a feature that's even intended to be implemented at this time? Should both record-enabled VSTi tracks sound even when Logic is not running, as with MIDI tracks? Could the delays just be a limitation of the ancient, creaking, pre-G3 Mac I happened to be testing on? Can anyone else confirm if this works as would be expected (as multi-record does with regular MIDI and audio tracks) on an appropriately powerful system? (I'll try it on one some time later this week).. Other than that, all the new features I tried looked good so far.. Running with the new MIDI engine I _once_ got a MIDI/Audio sync error, but could not reproduce it (perhaps it had something to do with tempo changes I'd inserted? There was only one audio/one MIDI track playing at the time).. After that it seemed fine, although I didn't test with any large songs yet.. Anyway... Cheers, Joe Albano ROOFTOP PRODUCTIONS NYC, NY

Hi, i have some trouble by using OMS and the new MIDI-Engine UME in Logic 4.7. A new recording with some 16th-Notes will be "thinned out" and not played as recorded. (Quantization is 16th !) If i recorded in a loop, the last note before loop-end will be shortend. If I disable UME or OMS everthing works fine. (but I need OMS for editing my Modular...) Can anybody confirm this problem ??? Subject: LAM Environment and Cabling Audio Inst.
Message #59300
First of all thanks to the people at Emagic- Nice work on 4.7. I know everyone is just getting a taste of v4.7 but can anyone explain the cabling procedure for using environments with VST instruments? If I want to use an arpeggiator with an instrument (lets say Neon to make the resulting explanation accessible to all) do I simply run a cable out of the arpeggiator into the audio instrument or do I need to make additional connections? Any tips on using complex environments like USS et al. with this new MIDI engine? Thanks, Sean
