Subject: OT: Audio CD songs on my web site
Message #31476
Hi Logic Friends How do I put my audio CD songs on my web site? QuickTime movies at full resolution take ages to open. I'd like: 1) Some way that people can begin hearing them quickly on line. 2) Quality files that the patient (or cable modem users) can download. Thanks Robert Frost

MP3 destructively removes data from the audio-file based on (simply spoken) psychoaccoustic rules. So there is no chance to convert a MP3 file back to an AIFF file as it was originally. >ZAP : I have heard that the gain is around 20 - 30 % is that true ? >can somebody make some comments about ZAP zap seems to be quite good. it came along with the aw2 card. greetz frank

Subject: bouncing to wav, burning to CD
Message #31480
I am new to Logic and this group so I have a basic question that Emagic support has been very slow in answering. I have AW2 on a PC. My ultimate goal is to burn a track I recorded in Logic Audio Composer to CD. I bounced the track to an interleaved stereo wav file in the mixer. When I tried to play the finished wav file on RealPlayer, there was just three minutes of silence. When I burned the track to CD, again there was just three minutes of silence where I burned the track. What am I doing wrong?

Hi, I'm using LAWP 4.2.2 with Yamaha DS2416 & SW1000 cards. LAWP directly supports this card. I'm using latest MME driver set from Yamaha and have no complaints about latency although in terms of msecs it's not mind-shattering. I tried Yamaha's ASIO drivers but couldn't get Logic to recognise the DS and ASIO .... Great quality plus expandability - plus Yamaha support good. I'm hooked! Regards, Adrian. Subject: PCI 324 (MOTU 1224) ASIO driver error/crash
Message #31482
I cannot get my MOTU 1224 to work with the ASIO PCI-324 driver in Logic. Despite the power of my computer and all the troubleshooting i have done i consistently get a " sample rate of 88something or other recognized. error while trying to synchronize audio to midi-- check for conflict between logic and external audio device" message. I have disabled my digital I/O's, checked for the right sample rate reinstalled the drivers for the 324 and much more. My system is a PIII with an intel chipset with a buitin soundcard of which i have even tried to disable the drivers for. No matter what i do i get the sample rate error message although i can get recording and playback to work using the mme virtul device, but it crashes and jams often. Emagic or MOTU tech help cannot help me get this working either. A perhaps related problem is that often in logic my computer will just turn off and reboot for no apparent reason. I am really at a loss here for what to do, perhaps just wait for 4.5, but if anyone has some suggestions i would really appreciate any help or any any any ideas....thanks Will __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Yes, the card eats DSP's for breakfast (read below). > Is there a way to control the synth in the environments ? Yes, I havn't (yet), but it has midi control over every param. It also has two OMS drivers (OasysA & OasysB) giving you 16 channels to come in on. You can assign stuff like crazy... > Can you use the card's fx within Logic ? Yes, but it doesn't work like a plug-in (read below). The card definitely needs to share the DSPs with everything you want to do (even simple I/O). It's not going to work like a plug-in, it is going to work more like an external device that has a direct digital path (in & out) to your DAW. You can also look at it like a device that you would have normally used Reaktor for (or any software synth), but, it sounds better, and hardly uses and host cpu processing. That frees up Logic to do what it's good at...recording and mixing! I bought it specifically for that reason, plus I needed a good 24 bit card that had digital I/O. It's one of the more 'rock solid' pieces (hardware and software) in my DAW (G4/500). They are getting ready to release it for the PC VERY soon... I wound up using the card most efficiently by recording each instrument into a LAMP track (dry), and then 'switching' the card to FX mode for doing most of the post-production and final mixing stuff. The 'OVerb' is very disperse and dense, but the Platinum Verb is good too. Hey, whatever sounds good that day! I was a little disappointed at first that I couldn't have the Prophet 5, Hammond B3, DX7, and Mini Moog type instruments loaded with full FX, but that would be like having 2 Reaktor Plasma ensembles, their Pro5 synth, and B4 synth (with full FX) loaded and playing 10 voices each! I don't think a computer exists (yet) that can do that! I was able to create some resource efficient 'Multi's' that I will upload to the Korg Oasys site... JR

I find the implementation of crossfades in Logic absolutely bizarre. In the manual for 4.0, there is a section where they display a graphic of all the tools, and then describe them. Oooops. The cross fade tool isn't there. Once again Logic has powerfull features, but totally goofy implementation. Mike

After my last serious audio session with Logic (LAWP v4.2.2) that resulted in my being more stressed out than I can remember being in my entire life, those words make me glow with hope. A stable Logic is all I ask for. (And I know that many of you have stable systems and are convinced it's just a question of getting the right hardware and tweaking it properly, but I've tweaked the shit out of my system (PIII/500, 256mb, Win98, 18gb 10krpm SCSI LVD drive, MOTU PCI324/2408), and I still have to cross my fingers when recording.) "Very reliable source?" hmm.... i wonder who that could be.. "no these cigarettes are for my dad, mr. store clerk" No offense, but "all annoying bugs removed?" That's a bold statement, and probably not that well thought-through, which is the main reason they tell beta-testers not to talk about the beta as it ends up being interpreted as "on behalf of" the beta, because statements such as that can be misleading and end up having a negative effect... i.e., when Person A's "annoying bug" turns out not to fixed after initial excitement (and in some cases was never a bug in the first place but rather the user's inability to crack open the manual). Hopefully no one takes it personally and cancels the beta account for your "reliable source." ----- Original Message ----- From: "Martin Saleteg" <martin@...> To: <logic-users@egroups.com> Sent: Tuesday, July 11, 2000 12:43 PM Subject: Re: [LUG] 4.5? There are also MIDI Key Commands that can do this as well I believe (you can use some key at the far end of the keyboard to trigger it). If you don't, then try selecting an audio track. You'll see that the crossfade tool is there. If that was the problem then it really isn't a goofy implementation as you can't have a crossfade of 2 midi sequences. HTH, Fernando

Message #31499
well, i just posted about this a few days ago and it's happening again. the "scroll in play" feature in the sample edit window is definitely not working. it worked for me the other day for the first time ever without noticeably changing anything other than the "scroll in play" option form the view menu like i've always tried. what is also happening is that once the scroll bar passes the viewable area, the screen doesn't jump to the next section so you can see the latter parts of the waveform. you have to manually move the scroll bar to see what's playing or zoom out far. there must be something that is disabled that is causing this not to work. anyone? thanks, Malcolm
