But for me it is not about using the actual PV's. It is about knowing that the G4 is capable of some extraordinary data crunching...but with certain applications...it goes on to be untapped. And has been like this for quite some time. If you knew you could use say 40 PV's...that means you have the horse power to do something more extreme with your system. Having AltiVec optimized software, on the G4 is huge difference. If you want to see something interested...take a G4 and install Photoshop 5.0.2 (which is not really recommended), then install PS 5.5, then install PS 6.0, the difference is quite remarkable. Also, this not just about PS. But other Applications. Take Reason 1.01 and install it on your machine...say you have a 450, then take that version of Reason and install it on P3/1.1 (or slightly faster) and you will see exactly what I am talking about. Both Applications, on both machines...no difference in performance. I also have a friend running Reason on a BeigeG3, with literally no performance lag...really! I hate being snob about this, but the truth is at certain point one has to stop blaming Apple for poor performance (when it is quite evident that the RISC processor is powerful) and start directing their energy toward the developers. Just like AMD users would like to see Logic Optimized for Athlon. Though since most PC's have a noticeably higher track count/PV ratio, I hardly see the point...lol. Peace, Alexis
