Re: Combining Hyperdraw and Hyper Edit for automation- How does it > All I was trying to say is that there is data in hyperdraw (the curvepoints) > that > is hidden in all the other editors, and seems to get lost travelling back and > forth. no you can open it in the event list (apple-2) >> If you however would create the same events directly in hyperdraw Logic >> would automatically fill the missing events between the two to fill up that >> "ramp". That's what's it designed for, to build up ramps. Yes exactly. if you just want straight volume changes on the beat do it in the event list. you could use hyperdraw, but do it on a big zoom so you can see, use the pencil tool to add a new point, and watch the numbers changing as you drag it around. it is possible to hyperdraw a volume change from 60 to 127 from one clock-division to the next. it would look like a straight line in hyperdraw. volume change info, eventlist volume change info, and volume automation are all the same thing, aren;t they? Just different ways of inputting or viewing the data. All three methods suit different purposes. hyperdraw is by far the best for automatically writing a smooth fade, though. > and a little bit later I see my ramp. All good. So now I go to edit one curve > point in the ramp, in the middle of the chorus. Guess what? Hyperdraw decides > at that instant to convert all my horizontal lines into diagonal ramps! I'm > not > talking about the curvepoint I'm editing, in the middle of the chorus ramp, > I'm talking about the constant volume during the verse, nowhere near my edit > point. Just use the pencil and create another point just before where you want it to change otherwise, see the above green writing.... > That is wrong! Plus, it doesn't do this until I decide to edit a point, and > _then_ it mangles my original data. Relax! Just save before you edit, or use the undo. > do what I do. But what I do is _basic_ to snapshot automation, and hyperdraw > will > definitely mangle the data. well use the event list, it's easier for just a hard volume change here and there. And fairly fast, just copy and paste and type in the new value. cheers- Barb *catching up on a few days worth*
