Hi Paul,
I use a XLR8 G3/366 CPU in my 7300. It´s great, no problems at all.
(Don´t forget to disable the system extension "Built-In Graphics
Accelerator" once a CPU upgrade is installed)
G4 is only preferable if altivec is supported by the software (positive in
Logic). I would recommend a G3, because the bus speed in the 7300 is slow,
compared to newer computers, and the higher price for the G4 in relation to
the overall increase in speed isn´t really worth it. Tip: use a really
fast
HD. An ATA 66 PCI card + IDE HD is cheaper than a SCSI HD alone.
I would suggest you check the archives at egroups, cause this has been
discussed earlier.
