Subject: Tempo control via MIDI
Message #30821
Greetings and Happy North American Holidays to all!!! Some muses: I was wondering if anyone could conceive of a way to use a MIDI controller number and expression pedal or slider to make tempo changes in real time while recording the first track of an idea. I know some of you have been discussing tempo changes within a sequence and I've been doing that for many years, but by adding the changes after the fact. I was just sitting here tinkering with a piano patch and this "thing" came out that needs to have some tempo fluctuations for expression, then settle back into the groove. I was thinking I could play it to a click and mess with it later, but a lot of the spontaneity would be lost. If I could control the tempo (click) with an expression pedal or control slider, with a bit of practice, it might become incredibly useful. I'm using Logic Audio Mac Platinum 4.2.2 and a Roland XP-80 through a MOTU MIDI EXPRESS XT, so I have the goods. Anybody know how to do it or can it be done? Is Logic or the Roland capable of this? Your thoughts will be appreciated... TIA, ...z -- --=-- Boycott Bomb Factory Products!!!---=--- L.G. "Zeek" Duff WHAT!Productions! Blue Wall Studio 303.485.9438 ICQ#35974686
