For me, you the the nail on the head there. The boxes you pointed out are
the more
premium level like apogee. Very nice stuff, but whether its right for me
right now I don't
know, considering the extra bucks. I will mainly be using it to have my
synths hooked up
ready for work alongside the software ones, and some live work for my music
projects. I
think for my budget the MOTU traveler or Presonus Firestudio or maybe an RME
400 or
something could be the ticket. I like the idea of the presonus with its 8
mic pres and of
course if I buy any one of these the optical i/o opens the door to adding a
premium A/D
down the track... at any rate this thread has made me realise that running
Digi hardware
with anything else than PT is not really worth the hassle. Pity as many of
us need to run PT
for work, indeed I earn a living from my skills on it in audio post.
