There is a hell of a fuss going on at a couple of forums over Apple's
decision to force users of Logic 8 (well, some workarounds are
possible, but workarounds should not be used on something this
important) down the path of using interleaved stereo files rather
than split stereo files. The gist of it is that pro-AEs need to use
split stereo files (or at least have the option) and that Apple is
compromising the pro-market of Logic by this direction towards
interleaved stereo files.
Now, I'm primarily a songwriter and use Logic mostly for pre-
productions and arranging - so to me this is not a massive issue -
but I have an interest in more studios using Logic because it makes
working with producers and AEs easier - particularly remotely, which
I now do a lot - if we're on the same platform. If pro-AEs and mixers
have a reason not to use Logic that's not in my interest.
What do people over here thing of this issue? Apologies if I've
missed a lengthy discussion already...
My sense is that some LUG muscle might be needed to put pressure on
Apple, but what do others here think?
