You can save your autoload song into your own templates and in preferences choose that song as the dafault song in which case Logic 8 opens just like older Logic used to. You can also choose to always open the last saved project or open up the dialog where to choose which project you want to do or even open up with "do nothing" which at least to me is was a bit confusing as it opens the Logic program but no song.
