Let's see what the main difference is... he can play through the tune in real-time without problems yet on a real-time bounce audio stops and there's a blank spot both in playback and recording. The difference is during the real-time bounce the drive is simultaneously writing to and reading the drive.. The offline bounce is non-realtime, read/write conflicts are bypassed as the system will take whatever time it needs. I would think he's using a single drive system and either "Journaling" or swap file activity is the cause of the problem. As Mike mentions, it's difficult to tell, have you tried the real- time bounce with the CPU/Disk Activity performace meters visible? Do either of them peak during the pause? HW
