The Fuse was very good, as were the Miro cards. But computers are now
powerful enough that you don't need a PCI card for reference video.
The Canopus box is no more semi-pro than anything else we use; it
does what it's intended to do very well.
If you're concerned about the offset when the transport is stopped -
which you only need to set once and forget about - then you can
always use a second (or third, etc.) computer monitor to play back
the reference video (i.e. just use the Canopus for capture). Or hook
up an LCD monitor to a computer video card. You can get a pretty nice
27" Astar one, for instance, for as little as $400.
