Maxim probably meant to say "24 quarter-frames" and not 24 frames (which would be a humongous 96 quarter-frames). Anyway, the setting in ProTools and Logic is quarter-frames, not frames. It was deemed that this was enough resolution. Going all the way down to bits (there are 80bits in a frame) would have been overkill. Yep, those old Miromotion and Aurora cards were way way way way way way better than Firewire DV boxes. Somebody even made OSX drivers for one of these cards (both maybe?). Another advantage of these cards is that you're not suck on 3.7MB/Second. You can choose other resolutions (I always chose much lower, and the picture quality was more than good enough for scoring and spotting and editing.
