I've tried, without success, to retrieve my old MIDI files stored on
floppies. The floppy drive is an Alesis Datadisc. The midi sequences were
created on my old Ensoniq ESQ-1. My MIDI interface is an M-Audio Midisport
8x8. Is it possible to connect the Datadisc to the midisport via midi cable
and transfer the midi files? I keep getting "target unit not
responding" on
the Datadisc. Is there some sort of preparation of a region or track that I
need to do? Is this a "file" matter, or can it be done in the
arrange page
using a region? Do I have to record the midi sequence in real time, or is
there a way to transfer the file "offline"? The sequence
information in
question is usually 8 tracks per sequence. Should I re-load the sequences
into the ESQ-1 and send them a track at a time, or actually play back the
sequence on the ESQ-1 and record it a track at a time in real time onto a
Logic midi track? I've tried all these methods, but I'm not getting the
results I want. The closest I got was syncing Logic to the ESQ-1, and
playing the sequence into Logic as it recorded. The resulting MIDI region
had a lot of glitches, and Logic did not seem to like this at all (I got
some weird, angry-looking red data squares appearing off to the side in the
matrix editor while transferring). If anyone can help out I would greatly
appreciate it.
