Subject: getting banks in external midi devices to correspond to banks in midi objects in logic
Message #226892
This is my first time posting, I'm a Logic newbie. I have Logic Platinum 6.4 and old hardware, including an Alesis QS6 and a Korg N1R. Both of these instruments have banks of synth sounds. The Alesis has 5 banks and the Korg has 7 (I believe). But whenever I initialize a new bank in the Midi instrument menu, it always switches the current bank of my instrument to the GM. How can I initialize new banks and somehow tell logic that "This bank corresponds to 'Prg A' (as opposed to all banks corresponding to 'General MIDI')? Also, I know that this is probably answered somewhere else but I am so bewildered that I must ask here, is there a site with lists of synth sounds for my instruments that I can feed into Logic, rather than typing them in by hand? Thanks to anyone who can decipher my (quite probably incorrect) terminology and answer my question. Doug
