I read it as you have not yet earned anything and therefore cannot pay anything. I've been getting paid for audio work since 1968. Along the way I have learned that the essence of "spec" deals is that one should not expect to get paid, because worldwide the number of those deals that actually get money to the engineer is less than one in a few thousand. So, you are offering nothing concrete, no money whatsoever. If you have the track record to think this will pay off, then you have already earned the money to pay an engineer up front. If you are unwilling to do that then you have little confidence in your project. All FWIW. -- ha
