That's an indication of being low on physical memory. If you are seeing large amounts of VIRTUAL memory being used in combination with small amounts of real memory, it only means you are using a very nice operating system, because that's the amount of memory you would have used without dynamic libraries, shared text segments etc etc. That's why it's called virtual.
