The only way the host knows if the HUI is there or not is by
sending/receiving a single-note "ping" every one second or so -
the
HUI (or emulation) MUST echo this note back to the host.
If no note is received from the host by the HUI in 2 seconds, the HUI
should go offline (but wake up again when it does receive a ping).
If the host doesn't get the ping echoed back by the HUI, what happens
is up to the host (Logic complains endlessly, as you have discovered).
Sounds like the Tascam HUI emulation has some issues, or is not
communicating correctly. Take a look with MIDI Monitor and see if the
HUI is echoing the note back.
