I want to move all the regions containing vocals 1024 samples earlier. In
ProTools I would just click on each region, find its absolute position in
samples, subtract 1024, and type in the new number. How can I do this in
Logic Pro 7? The sample editor doesn't seem to do this, which means it's
really mis-named.
I'm not sure if you can do it like that in Logic at all because it works in
ticks and ms but as always there is a workaround. Just route all the tracks
that you want to move to a bus and insert the sample delay on that bus and
you're done (or insert a sampledelay on all the vocal tracks). Don't be too
sure about those 1024 samples though, there probably is a safety buffer as
well so you may have to do a bit of trial and error.
Or you can insert it on one track and then find out how many ticks/ms 1024
is equal to, it should be pretty easy. If you want to be 100% sure then make
a copy of a region and give it it's own track, move the original with the
sample delay, then invert the phase of the copy and find the position where
there is no sound when the two parts are played back together. This may
sound complicated but I could do it in 30 seconds or so.
After you have found the right amount of ticks just subtract it in the
regions delay but the first solution is way faster. Of course if you have
something on the tracks that shouldn't be delayed you have a problem. Then
either choose the second way or give the regions their own track.
