Up until the takeover of Emagic by Apple in July 2002, it was possible to purchase either a Win or Mac Licence. After the buyout, Win owners were offered Mac licences - so someone running Logic WIndows Platinum 5, if he bought a Mac, could switch to Logic Mac Platinum 5 without encurring any extra charges for Logic.
