It will not support third party software and save only in the upcoming AE (Apple Entertainment) format. There will be no XS Key, the available features depend directly on your purchases via the iTunes shop. Apple cares about your rights. Copy protection will be integrated in every song you compose. The program adds a unique digital watermark and nobody can copy your song. You can't either so you are perfectly save. AppleLoops will see a major overhaul. They will no longer adopt to the song key and tempo but rather set your song according to the loops which lets them sound much more authentic. Video gets synchronized either. Exchanging loops will automatically re-order the video sequences to speed up the cutting process. The note editors get dropped and will be replaced by a new tool based on musical phrases. There will be a selection of all important music styles interpreted by the best players of the world, ready to give your song the final touch. There will be no MIDI, we know that already. And of course no environment and cryptic event lists. A new built-in sensor will automatically connect to hardware and transform and automatically map it's parameters to the instruments in your arrangement. The big manufacturers are already developing devices to support that system. Orchestral composers will be very pleased. Since many instruments are more or less identical you just choose the size of the orchestra. Sonic details are of course maintained. It needs just one click to put a virtual wooden box around a harp and turn it into a piano - like in the real world. And Apple acquired VSL. All samples got modified to support Ultrabeat. Ultrabeat itself will replace the arrange window. Good news for bass players: you can stay at home. That isn't really an instrument and the fifty notes you play per hour can easily be generated by the application. ___ Peter Ostry
