Shockingly, I can answer this in spite of being new to Logic myself. While you can't record a backward track (at least not in the old analog tape way:-) you can record a track and then reverse it in the audio editor (double click on the recorded region to get there.) You might want to duplicate the region and then do reverse but that's up to you. As far as expanders are concerned, not sure where you were looking but if you go to the Logic area in the Inserts part of the channel strip you will find an Expander there under Dynamic.
