I know we're straying OT here but in case anyone is
unaware, this loudness thing is a huge issue with
mastering engineers. Its unfortunate that you feel you
have to compete with other bands who felt they had to
compete etc. Just remember that squeezing out that
last half db of loudness might in fact make your music
louder but it also comes with potential negative
musical consequences. As i said its a widely discussed
topic and info can be found about it anywhere. I just
read the February EQ magazine which was devoted to
mastering.
