Have you increased your disc I/O buffer size?
Are you sure you are not recording or playing back off the internal
drive?
One other suggestion: try and save a project to your internal drive,
and just use the audio hardware, then un-mount and disconnect the FW
drives. This way you can test if the drives are the issue or not. If
the song plays back and record fine, the FW drives or one of the fw
drives is the issue.
