I know this one!
Open your Logic installer disc, start the instal, and select
"Custom"
then reinstall the ESB extension.
Should fix it up good!

BTW The reason for the excitement: this fricken issue was the bane of
my existence for over a year with too many people to mention. To
discover the solution to be so simple was enlightening.
