I have written quite a bit about the terrible prolems I have been having
with Logic and my
setup. Now I have found the problem and I am very very annoyed about it. As
it turns out,
Raptor drives are NOT compatible with G5s, so I have not been having Logic
problems
after all.
I have to say that I am quite amazed by this, but it is true. It is now in
the WD
knowledgebase in a very small article, and on the phone they acknowledge it.
Strangely it
doe not say this on any of the product information, and I have not found
many references
to the problem on forums. In fact I only found one reference to the problem
where
someone was talking about the drive intermittently 'falling asleep'.
The drive 'hangs up' which is what is causing my many spinning beach balls
and total
computer freezes. I am suprised no one else has mentioned it, but I think
that the
admission on the WD site is quite new and they are obviously now very keen
to publicize
it. Anyone with a Raptor and G5 with problem please send me a message. I
have wasted a
lot of time, energy and money on this problem and would like to know how
many others
have done the same.
Regards,
Chris
