Hi Brad,
> How long has it been in the market?
Notator Logic came onto the market for Atari and Macintosh in late
1992. It's Atari predecessors were around from the mid / late eighties.
> Is it the first "major" MIDI software?
No. There were others around at the time already, on both Atari and
Mac. Cubase was among them.
> Whar company developed it?
First they were called C-Lab. Then later, Emagic.
> Would it be safe to say that it has been used on more commercial
> recordings than any other MIDI program?
No. There are lots of other midi sequencing programs that have been
used. Performer, Studio Vision, Master Tracks, Dr. T, etc, etc,
> Is it the preferred application in the world today?
No. I don't think (IMVHO) there is _one_ preferred app. Different
strokes for different folks. There are obviously "pockets" of
users
dedicated to specific apps that may be tied geographically. But I
wouldn't generalize beyond that. For example, I know Toronto has a big
community Logic and Pro Tools users. But that doesn't necessarily
reflect the user base in other big cities.
