I suppose what Im looking for could be visually represented by a single midi event in the matrix editor that started straight for a couple of beats, and then made a upward curve shape over one beat untill it leveled out again once it acheived the desired higher note transposition. Im sure there must be a way to do this, perhaps just not in the matrix editor..
