I use Logic on a Mac. I can easily transfer 'migrate' my system from one drive to another. I wouldn't recommend it though. I would recommend another drive though. As big as you can easily afford and shall suit your machine's technical specifications. Do not make it your main boot drive even if you decide to install a fresh system on that drive. Do run all degragmentation programs you have. Clear out any accumulated caches from your System and Library folders. You could always set your new drive to be the VM space for your programs , maybe partition the drive and make one of the partitions into a permanent swap drive for scratch memory. I would be inclined to copy over all of my Documents and Pictures and Movies to that new drive too. That should clear out a load of space. Be careful , but be determined. Regarding those items that need aliases to be 'honoured' leave them to the last to move any assets associated. Do try to keep the current installation in situe and 'train' your applications via their preferences settings to use the new drive for scratch space, file saving space and rendering areas. The following are prime areas for Mac clearances - Java cache & Library/Caches - all :-) ~/Application Support/Camino/Cache, ~/Library/Logs, ~/Library/Safari/Icons, ~/.jpi_cache, ~/.dvdcss, and /var/log/*.gz, along with all the .DS_Store files Finder creates. Now if this ain't your brand of OS you should have told us you were a Windows user, in which case I would ask - what distro - NT, XP Home, XP Pro , or Vista ?
