I am now using the Yamaha DSP factory and the SW1000GX cards 16 channels is not enought for me as I record live drums (along with the simmonds sdx electronic kit,) accustic, lead ,bass guitars also vocal tracks which altogether need a lot of audio tracks. For most music work I would think that 16 tracks audio playback is enough. Note... if you want a digital mixdown using the dsp you will need two free tracks for the stereo mixdown and so only 14 playback tracks can be used. It all depends on your use of midi+audio work. If you need more tracks the AW8 card works well with the dsp. At the moment the sw1000gx card dose not work with the dsp for combined audio work (something that yamaha are trying to sort out). I hope all this helps kind regards Andy
