I did some admittedly unscientific testing and got
confusing results. I tried copying a 2.85g file to the
FW800 drive and it consistently copied it in app. 65
seconds. I copied it several times. First with the
second FW400 drive unplugged, again with the drive
plugged in but not turned and once again with the
FW400 drive plugged in, turned on, and mounted. Each
time the speed was identical using only the G5 FW
ports.
I copied one more time to the FW800 drive but this
time I used the 400 output and the file copied at 90
seconds.
Not sure what to conclude here but there was no
performance difference with both the FW800 and the
FW400 mounted on the same FW bus.
