Muting the ARRANGE track (or audio region on it) will stop reading
audio from disk and any plugins will use no CPU - if there's no audio
passing through a plugin, in theory Logic ensures it uses no CPU (true
for most, but not all plugins). This mute takes a little time to happen.
Bypassing a plugin (bypass button or option-click the insert slot)
should also free the CPU. This can also take a little time, depending
on the plugin.
Muting the MIXER channel will still be processing prior to the mute,
so will not free any CPU (and will be instant).
