Hi, just my few cents: IMO Affe is right here, because it could very well be that newer IE versions include hidden W98 "patches" that make a system more stable. I don´t say that this is a fact, but it has definitively happened with some other MS products like Office in the past! Removing them could (maybe) spoil the system. I have built systems WITH and WITHOUT the patches and have "thought" that the one with all the patches runs better. But my current PC is very fast too with all the IE enhancements, so Affes assumption that there might be a problem with hardware is a valid point. I have turned OFF menu animations and Active Desktop - that is - and my system works great! > The performance of audio applications doesn't improve in any way > after installing Win98Lite. True, after having tested with and without Win98Lite on different systems. Of course, Sascha Franck is completely right in saying that the old Explorer is faster than the new one - so this could definitively be a reason for using Win98Lite. However, I prefer the shell enhancements and can deal with the slower Explorer. So it´s just personal taste IMO. Sorry for being so long, but just wanted to share my experiences. All the best Thomas
