Subject: Re: Quantize swing

Hi Plinio, > I would like to hear comments about the quantize function in > Logic. About the "swing" feel and where to control it.Thanks. Swing is in the *extended* parameter box, accessed by dbl-click on the text of the standard parameter box. Swing works on every odd count, of your quantize setting. So if you are doing swing at a 16th setting, every 1/8th will be 'square' and the 1/16ths between them will swing in time. No swing (appears blank) is a 50% setting - the backbeats are exactly halfway in between. Higher percentages make the backbeat progressively more late. Personally, I find the swing percentage control too coarse... Usually I reduce the quantize strength to 30% or so. The quantize patterns 16A, 8B, etc are another way to use swing. These are preset pattern incorporating swing - the A patterns swing velocity (if you use Quant Vel), B and onwards swing time, after B the swing is getting heavy for my taste... I prefer to adjust the groove myself rather than use these presets. Cheers, Thomas
