such things are not OT anymore. A while ago a Emagic supporter told me to
use a certain version of Apple HD driver, with a specific audio card, to use
with logic. Otherwise it would not record more than 4 minutes.
So any questions/informations about such an important thing like HDs and
their drivers may be relevant for the group. On the other side, threads
about how fast BeOS runs on a PC seems to be OT for me:-)

not a good idea. The beige G3 has a slow SCSI and it is the same bus like
the outside connector, and that means you may get not more than 16-18
tracks. If you buy a U2W drive (UW would be enough anyway), get a UW
accelerator card like the Adaptec 2940 or Formac Pro Raid also.

You may use the newest version (or the version that came with your system)
of Apple drive setup or alternatively HDT 3.02 or higher. HDT gives you
maybe 2 more tracks but might make trouble since it is not 100% OS9
compatible.
