It works quite well most of the time, though there are cases where manual fix-ups are required. A competing program is SmartScore (I can't recall the publisher). SmartScore Lite is included with Finale, I believe. Photoscore has a tie-in with Sibelius. The full-featured versions of these programs can deal with complex scores - multiple staves/voices, capturing dynamics, etc. The Lite versions of these programs drop out various capabilities...
