But it's useful too. Situations like this force you to evaluate what you really need, and to quote Martha, "That's a good thing". But first,... Many good words here from everyone. My sincere thanks. Interestingly, I really don't need to upgrade from an "audio" standpoint. Most of the difficult stuff I offload to external processing anyway, (Kyma, UAD, Kurzweil). It's really only the video that's driving this upgrade. This really hit home when, while installing FinalCut Studio, the installer informed me that I had insufficient hardware to run Motion. That, combined with the fact that I can't even do a simple video crossfade in realtime without some glitch. With that said, Apple is really pushing its performance of the Quad G5 with Final Cut, (and it is impressive). I don't think this is a customer base they want to alienate anytime soon. Besides, it looks like Adobe's high end apps will be running under Rosetta for another year. I'm positive Logic will be running Universal for the next 5 years. I get the feeling that the Emagic bunch doesn't get as much attention from the hardware dev's as they'd like. At first glance, the PCI Express thing really irked me. But looking into workarounds with a Magma chassis shed new light on the issue. Sometimes there's opportunity in adversity. I'm seeing nothing wrong with having my UAD's and RME interface cards stowed away in this box while leaving 2 of the G5's PCIe slots open for something.....tasty. Last night I was leaning towards being conservative and waiting. This morning, I'm on the "Go For It" side of the fence. Let's see, is it too early to start drinking? "Sniff.....I really love you guys! Randall"
