Ears can work but not all of them say the same thing to their owners and latency fixer does not operate as a continuous controller so it requires a lot of messy trial and error and stopping and starting between every pass before you get it right. Doing the "Science" (measuring) is not messy at all you measure it and then you know what is going on in addition to having learned something valuable and quantifiable about your system.
