Is this not the case? > Hi, If you want to get full usage out of your FW drives I would attach them to a FW PCMCIA card (about £25). This way you keep the FW400 on one FW bus and FW800 on the other. You are right in thinking that both the FW400 & 800 ports on the computer are on the same bus (ie same circuitry). This way you can be certain that your HDs are transferring as fast as they can. I have the same PB as you and in the 'about this mac' pane it says as much, my internal bus (sockets on machine) are rated at 400 because my soundcard pulls it down, however the PCMCIA card bus is rated at the full 800 as the only things attached are two Lacie D2 Extremes.
