Subject: Please no Win98lite-war again (was: LAWP Crashes becoming embarrassing!!!)
Message #21597
>>Try Win98lite. It works. >> > >No it doesn't. > >This infamous kludge breaks way too many things to be considered "safe" >and "useful". Affe, for more than a year now you keep on "crusading" against Win98lite as well as RoM II (and other such products). Whenever there is a post remotely in favor of either of these tools it *always* is a safe bet there will be an immediate post from you challenging all positive writing. IMO you have made your point perfectly clear. No need to repeat yourself over and over again. I for that am using Win98lite since November 1998. I have not reinstalled Win98 once. I'm not aware of *any* "broken things" in my LAWP environment either. I'm using a TerraTec Soundcard, AW8, SW1000XG, DIGI 96/8, a CD Burner and have yet to encounter problems. In fact I'm trying hard to destabilize my system by constantly tweaking settings and fiddling around with parameters (something I advice all my friends to refrain from since such usually is asking for trouble). I've got several LAW (beta-)versions concurrently installed on my machine. Again no problems either. For completeness sake: a while back there were rumors that Win98lite does produce incompatibilities with ES-1. I still have to come across these on my machine. Judging from the occasional "me too" when it comes to praising Win98lite I strongly believe there are many LUGgers that successfully have applied this software and don't face problems. I wish we could leave it at that and don't start a thread pro/con Win98lite whenever this is only remotely touched. No news for month on this issue now. No need to repeat old info either.
