Subject: [LUG] [LAW] Platinum 5.5.1 External Firewire Drive OK for recording
Message #215969
Hi All I want to do some live recording with my IBM thinkpad (P4 2.8 GHz 512 mg RAM) and my Mackie Onyx 1640 with Firewire interface. However the drive on the Thinkpad is only 20 gig, I could get a new internal drive (but that's a bit of a schlep!!) but wondered if an external firewire HDrive might not do the job, I will be recording 18 channels of audio simultaneously, works no problem in the studio with the studio computers and on the laptop as well with the existing drive ,,,,but........it also occurs to me that it would be easier to just plug the firewire drive into the main studio machines for editing, but will it work??. Thanks in advance Dave Abbott, DaStudio, Johannesburg, South Africa
