It is pretty easy to figure out the latency and you only have to do
it once.
Just put some sharp clicks in an audio file and play it back
simultaneously from two discrete mono tracks routed hard left and
hard right. One with the IO plugin sending to your external effects
path and the other dry. Do a real time bounce. Open up the
resulting audio file and highlight the area between one of the
transients on the left side and the right side. The little number
you see in the box by your cursor will be your IO latency in samples.
