Sir:
The business of playing back samples in the sample editor can be confusing
at first. When you open the sample editor it will play using whatever
channel is specified in the parameter box on the left. If, for example, you
have the playback channel set at channel 1, but you have some effects on
channel 1, any sample you open will play back through those effects. So, you
might open a guitar sample and hear it played back through the effects on
the kick channel, for example.
Drove me nuts the first few times I tried it. One good way is to set the
playback channel to a high numbered audio track that you never use, assuming
that you don¹t want to hear any effects while you are editing
samples...
