If you don't want to delete the track at a certain time (silly joke, I know) then use automation. You can: mute the track, bring the volume down more or less fast, bypass the tape delay, control one or more delay parameters. Just a suggestion: I would reduce the feedback of the delay for a tiny amount to tame it a bit and go simultaneously down with the volume. That can happen quite fast if you draw steep lines or curves in the automation.
