Doing some relatively simple rescue work of some AV synch issues
for a friend. Getting "Attempt to position before start of file
result code == -40" when I try to bounce the tracks.
This is my process:
import QT with badly dithered/buggered audio (for visual confirmation)
import 16bit AIF of badly dithered/buggered audio
import new and improved 24bit file.
Synch up waveforms by eye. Lock 24bit track
Close QT window and delete Movie track and bad AIF.
Add 2-pop (a 48k/24bit file) so all remaining files are 48KHz/24bit
(2-pop is for lining up in an HD edit system, the original bad
files were badly processed somewhere along the line)
Go to bounce.
I can only get it to go past the error message if I choose a
dither option. Every other combo of file format, resolution,
stereo file type and bounce mode force the error. Essentially if
just won't go unless it dithers. I had to deliver some of the
files right away so I chose dithering 24bits to 24bits wich
shouldn't dither at all but who knows what the hell is going on
at that level. Resulting files are 48K/24bit according to Logic
Audio window.
OSX 10.3.9
Logic 6.4.1
Dual 1Gig G4, 1.5GigRAM
RME Multiface
Others have had this problem but I couldn't find any sign of
anyone working it out. I am near a 7.0 upgrade so it would be
nice to know if this occurs in 7.0 and up.
thanks
